"I Live In Oregon...What's Tax got To Do With It?"

Please join us at the Downtown Athletic Club for a great lunch and an informative presentation by Dave Menzies, Corporate Tax Accountant with Farwest Steel, who will explain tax registration requirements, what a Tax Exemption Certificate is and when you need it, and provide information about sales tax reporting, auditing and other tax issues.

President's Message

Happy New Year! Yes, I tend to be a little behind most of the time, but not that behind!  However, in April the new Board of Directors was installed for the 2008–09 year, so now in May, we are starting our New Year in CFDD.

As I was listening to all the duties and responsibilities of the President as Sandee Texley was swearing me in, I was thinking “Did I really agree to do all that?” and feeling somewhat apprehensive about being able to handle it all.   Did I say “somewhat”?!  I think this year for me will be about being outside my “comfort zone.” Being the President and standing at the front of the room; running the meeting is definitely outside my comfort zone. And writing a President’s Message is another opportunity to be outside my comfort zone.

I have been reminded many times during my business career that one doesn’t get very far if one always stays within that safe comfort zone. So even though it would be very easy to say “no” to new challenges as they come along, you never know what you may learn or what opportunities might open up for you as you expand the limits of your comfort zone.

So I will extend the same challenge to you to try something new; to serve on a committee; to sit with a different group at a meeting; to attend a seminar or a meeting that you may not feel has an application for you; to extend your participation in your CFDD chapter. Because one thing is certain – you can’t find a safer environment to test your limits in as there are other members who have most likely already experienced the same challenges and will be more than willing to share their experiences.

Let’s have a great year!

        Respectfully submitted,
        Laurie K. Fuller,
